Day o: Arrival in Arusha

Arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport you will be met by our representative and drive to Planet lodge in Arusha. At the lodge our safari manager will come for detailed safari briefing. This nice lodge is at the base of Mt. Meru & it offers a stunning view of Meru Mountain.

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast meet your safari driver guide at the lobby & leave for Tarangire National Park via Arusha town where you can change money or do any last-minute purchase. Tarangire is the fifth largest National Park in Tanzania well known for its beautiful landscape & larger elephant population found nowhere on earth.

Tarangire River and the majestic baobab trees dwarfing some animal species which comes underneath are among the highlights of this park. Tarangire – Lake Manyara ecosystem forms a cycle of annual migration of over 3000 elephant, wildebeest & zebras. Apart from elephant population you may expect to spot giraffe, buffalo, zebra, hippos, warthog & the three rare species of Lesser & Greater Kudu, Oryx and the Ash staling. Later afternoon before or during sunset drive to the lodge for dinner & overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, the driving is via attractive high lying farmland of Karatu and up to Ngorongoro gate, after check in you will drive more up and along the Crater rim, you may stop for some nice pictures at the crater view point. More drive around the Crater rim and down to the “Wild rich” The Serengeti National Park with its endless rolling plains.

On the way you will visit one of the Masai village whereby some Masai warrior invites you & give you a brief story of their life around this area, questions & answer session before enter to their small houses to meet kids & members of the family. Later they will sing and dance their famous song which involving jumping high. From there drive further with en-route game drive to Naabi Hills Gate for check in before heading to the Central Serengeti Park area called Seronera.

Seronera is the richest wildlife habitats in Serengeti, endowed with Seronera River, the main water source in the area that attracts abundance of wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Picnic lunch will to be served at the kopjes (Rocky outcropping). Afternoon game drive in search of the Wildebeest Migration, late drive to your lodge during or before the sunset for dinner & overnight.

Day 3: Full Day Serengeti National Park

Your 6 days Tanzania lodge safari continue and today we are taking you for full day game drive in the Serengeti. You will start as early as 06:30 with packed breakfast box and lunch box. Early morning game drive allows you to spot the cat family on the road as they try to avoid the morning mist, you may also see nocturnal animals coming back from their long night of hunting or a group of lionesses organizing an ambush or eating along the road.

Break for breakfast in the bush then you will be heading to where the Wildebeest migration is packed. Spend much time watching the migration of herds, the big cats and others (packed lunch will be served in the bush or in one of the picnic sites in the area. You may expect to see a lot of animal actions like hunting, killing, fighting & so on. Drive back to the Camp during or before the sunset, dinner & overnight in the Camp.

Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

On this day as early as 06:30 you can do another early morning game drive carry your breakfast & lunch box. Spend much time in Serengeti doing game drives before starting your en-route game drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at the lodge sunset watch at the Crater rim, dinner & overnight.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

Early risers are rewarded with breath-taking views of the rising sun over the crater’s edge and after a hearty breakfast, we rumble down the adventurous track into the crater. This UNESCO world heritage site, one of the seven wonders of Africa, formed about three million years ago, is 610 m deep, and covers roughly 260 square kilometres. Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25,000 ungulates, the crater offers the best game viewing of all the parks in Tanzania. In a matter of minutes, we will be able to see wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, elephant, and some of more than 500 bird species here inhabiting. With a little bit of luck, we may catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino through the grass. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch we leave the crater in the afternoon to travel back to Karatu, again staying at one of our, hand picked for quality, mid range partner lodges.

Day 6: Hadzabe & Datooga Tribe Visit

On this day you will go for an early morning hunting with bushman including tuition on survival skills. Bushman is an indigenous tribe divided in three clans of Datoga, Tindiga & the Hadzabe living in hunting & gathering of fruits, tubes & eggs pretty much the same as people who lived in the Stone Age

The Hadzabe bushmen live in and around Lake Eyasi, just south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. This region is also home to the Datoga and Mbulu tribes. A cultural visit with the Hadzabe and the Datoga is possible and they will show you how and where they live. One of the oldest tribes in Africa, the Hadzabe have consistently lived a hunter gatherer lifestyle without ever having to resort to farming. The Datoga are skilled farmers and crafts people. They keep goats, sheep, donkeys and chickens.  However, cattle are by far their most important domestic animal. The meat, fat, blood, milk, hide, horns, tendons and dung of every animal have either practical or ritual purposes. until afternoon, then start your way out & drive back to Arusha, If staying in Arusha (accommodation can be arranged upon request at extra cost).
